San Francisco (1) - Welcome to the Rock...

So guys, this is my first post abroad. So far, so good. The flight went relatively well; left some teary relatives at the airport security, got on the plane, took off, and then proceeded to liberate alcohol from the stewardess. We landed 30mins ahead of schedule, but it still took nearly an hour to get through security. My officer was pretty quick and helpful; Sam's gave her some questions to probe in to her life. Went to bed quite early local time last night (around 8) but that was around 4am GMT, so sleep was needed. Got up early this morning and helped ourselves to the complimentary bagels and coffee for breakfast. The hostel is brilliant, good recommendation Martin. Today we spent the day looking at Alcatraz and Pier 39 (Shopping area); had lunch at Bubba Gump (as in made up company in Forrest Gump the film), that was a lot of fun. Stuffed on shrimp, shrimp, shrimp and more shrimp....

Alcatraz was well organised and I could see a lot of links and similarities to it and parts of Shawshank Redemption. A very good trip, and a must see in San Fran.

The weather has been nice, may be slightly tanned/burnt (I am ginger after all).

Next couple days looks likely to consist of cycling, museums and some drinking.

Love
